Development of a tracking and location optimisation solution for complex production processes.

WILL SENSORS SIA in cooperation with DATI Group SIA and JELGAVAS TIPOGRĀFIJA SIA 01.11.2023. has started the implementation of the research project No.1.1 “Development of a tracking and location optimisation solution for inventory items for complex production processes to improve plant efficiency (WITPO)” within the IT Competence Centre Project No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/1/22/A/CFLA/008.

The aim of the project is to develop a tracking and location optimisation solution for inventory items in production, suitable for complex production processes, in the form of an open source, horizontally scalable and combined environment-based platform, using customised IoT solutions as well as data from local systems, will provide a digital replica of the inventory movement process in production, which, together with the developed optimisation models, will provide data-driven recommendations for the optimal placement and location of stock items, thereby improving the inventory management process and increasing productivity. .

During the project implementation, the knowledge and competences of SIA “DATI Group” in edge cloud environment solutions, the knowledge and competences of project partner SIA “WILL SENSORS” in IoT solutions, as well as the environment of project partner SIA “JELGAVAS TIPOGRĀFIJA” in complex production processes will be used to validate the solution prototype. The outsourced scientific institution (Riga Technical University) will primarily provide the development of the optimisation models, oversee the development of the open, horizontally scalable architecture and integrate the digital twin concept into the solution.

Main planned activities:
WITPO architectural design
Development of otpimisation models and implementation of the platform;
Validation of the platform in a real-life environment;

Planned results:
2 original scientific articles and presentations at international conferences;
1 overview of related research and potentially applicable technologies;
1 architectural design;
1 optimisation model and routing algorithm;
1 overview of the development of the platform back-end
1 overview of the installation;
1 validation report;
1 platform prototype

The project is implemented under the Latvian Recovery and Resilience Mechanism Plan 5.1.r. 5.1.1.r. of the reform and investment axis “Raising productivity through increased investment in R&D” Reforms “Innovation governance and incentives for private R&D investment” 5.1.1.2.i. investments under the “Support instrument for the development of innovation clusters” operational programme.

Total eligible costs of the project: €206 180.94, planned support €149 497.11. Project duration 18 months from 01.11.2023. up to 30.04.2025.
